ANALYSIS RELATIONSHIP OF NOISE AND HOT WORK CLIMATE WITH FATIGUE OF WELDING WORKERS ON INFORMAL SECTOR (STUDY CASE : BOGOR STREET WELDING STALLS, BANDUNG)

Fatigue is a condition when a worker feels tired physically or mentally. Fatigue can be caused by several factors such as physical factors of the work environment factors like work climate and noise, determining factors in workers such as age, nutritional status, medical history, smoking habits,...

Fatigue can be caused by several factors such as physical factors of the work environment factors like work climate and noise, determining factors in workers such as age, nutritional status, medical history, smoking habits, sleep quality, marital status, and amount of drinking water consumption, or occupational factors such as work duration and years of service. One of the jobs that exposed to hot working climate and noise is welding. Jalan Bogor welding workshop is one of the center of welding workshop industry in Bandung City. The purpose of this research is to identify noise and hot working climate level in Jalan Bogor welding workshop, then to determine its relationship and risk factors to work fatigue. This research conducted on 4 groups of welding types, there are electric welding, plasma welding, acetylene welding, and iron cutting. The research method used a cross-sectional design. The data collection method was done by distributing IFRC (Industrial Fatigue Research Committee) questionnaire as a measurement of fatigue levels with the number of samples used in this research were 50 workers using random sampling method, noise intensity measurement using Sound Level Meter (SLM) in the morning, afternoon, and evening, and hot working climate measurement with QUESTemp in the afternoon because that is the time when the workers feel the hottest. Then, all datas were analyzed descriptively and statistically with chi-square test, and multiple linear regression. The result showed that hot working climate (p=0,004), noise (p=0,019), nutritional status (p=0,025), sleep quality (p=0,004) and the amount of drinking water consumption (p=0,023) have a significant relationship with the incidence of work fatigue and are included to risk factors of work fatigue. The results of F test using multiple linear regression showed that the physical factors of work environment, host factors, and work factors had a simultaneous influence on fatigue. text
