Summary: | This study aims to prove Pediococcus pentosaceus ABY 118 as immunomodulator by
increasing the modulation of ChINF-γ and ChIL-10, decreasing the score of damage to the caecum,
production of oocysts in chickens infected with E. tenella oocysts. This study used 80 broilers
starting from one day of age (DOC), randomly divided into 4 treatments, each treatment consisting
of 20 chickens. The treatments was as follows: P0: control; P1: Monensin; P2: probiotic 1.5 x 108
CFU/ml; P3: probiotic 3.0 x 108 CFU/ml. At the age of 20 days, Eimeria tenella (E. tenella)
oocysts were inoculated orally at a dose of 1x104. The probiotic P. pentosaceus ABY 118 was
given orally through drinking water from DOC to 35 days according to the treatment dose.
The results showed that the use of P. pentosaceus ABY 118 isolates at a dose of 1.5 x 108
CFU/ml and 3.0 x 108 CFU/ml could increase ChINF-γ and ChIL-10in broiler infected with E.
tenella oocysts. The use of P. pentosaceus ABY 118 isolates at doses of 1.5 x 108 CFU/ml and 3.0
x 108 CFU/ml could reduce the cecum damage score in broiler infected with E. tenella oocysts,
where cecum preparations were taken in the asexual phase where the cellular immune response
was not yet complete. The use of P. pentosaceus ABY 118 isolates at doses of 1.5 x 108 CFU/ml
and 3.0 x 108 CFU/ml can reduce the production of oocysts in excreta in broiler infected with E.
tenella oocysts. The use of isolates at a dose of 1.5 x 108 CFU/ml can reduce OPG by 79.43%
compared to P0, while the use of isolates at a dose of 3.0 x 108 CFU/ml can reduce OPG by 92.04%
compared to P0. The decrease in OPG in P2 (P. pentosaceus ABY 118 at 1.5 x 108 CFU/ml dose)
showed a 53.36% lower OPG difference when compared to P1 (monensin). The decrease in OPG
in P3 (P. pentosaceus ABY 118 at a dose of 3.0 x 108 CFU/ml) showed that the OPG difference
was 81.96% lower when compared to P1 (monensin). Based on the results of this study, it can be
concluded that the use of P. pentosaceus ABY 118 isolates at a dose of 1.5 x 108 CFU/ml / liter of
drinking water and 3.0 x 108 CFU/ml per liter of drinking water can stimulate an increase of
ChINF-γ and ChIL-10 and reduce the cecum microscopic lesion score (MLS) and the production
of oocysts in excreta in broiler infected with oocyst E. tenella. |
