Summary: | To deliver knowledge to the world, media is needed and the media is through translation. Translation involves two or more languages in which the source language must be translated into the target language. In scientific journal publications, translation is a common thing. The purpose of translating the journal is to transfer the results of research that has been done to people around the world. The translator should employ appropriate methods and strategies in translating scientific journals. In translating a scientific journal, in this case translating a medical journal article, the important thing is that the translators have to fulfill the scientific journal’s purpose meaning that the article has to be equivalence with the source’s form. The term equivalence means having the same
meaning or the same value. A medical journal article in Bahasa Indonesia was analyzed in this report using Newmark Theory. The analysis shows that there is one method found, namely Semantic Translation. Meanwhile, there are 6 strategies that were employed, namely Borrowing, Reduction, Literal, Calque, Modulation, and Description.
