Description
Summary:This study aims to characterize the 18S SSU rRNA Cryptosporidium spp. in dogs in the city of Surabaya. A total of 70 dog faecal samples were taken from Animal Hospitals and animal clinics in the city of Surabaya. Cryptosporidium spp. isolated and identified microscopically and confirmed by Polymerase Chain Reaction and sequencing. A total of 40 samples were found Cryptosporidium spp. oocysts, measuring 2-6 μm. Ten of the 40 positive samples with microscopic examination were tested for PCR and sequencing. Six positive samples were analyzed by blasting. The results of the analysis show similarities with Cryptosporidium canis and have a kinship with Cryptosporidium canis that infects dogs in Japan, China, Brazil, Australia, England, Romania, Mexico, France, Thailand, the Philippines and America.
