| الملخص: | This study aims to (1) know the projections of consumption and domestic
production of beef over the next ten years and is associated with beef selfsufficiency
target by 2014, (2) analyze the factors affecting demand, supply of
domestic and import of beef in Indonesia and (3) calculate the magnitude of the
elasticity of demand, supply of domestic and import of beef in Indonesia to
change in its price. The data used are secondary data time series at period 1991-
2009. The analysis used in this study is the analysis of double exponential
smoothing of Holt to project consumption and domestic production of beef and
simultaneous equation econometric models with analytical methods Two Stage
Least Square (2SLS) in double log form of equation to determine the factors and
the elasticity of demand and supply of beef in Indonesia.
The results showed that over the next ten years, consumption and domestic
production of beef in Indonesia increased. Demand of beef in Indonesia affected
by the real domestic price of beef, the real price of fish, the real price of chicken,
income per capita and the change of population, while domestic supply of beef in
Indonesia affected by the real domestic price of beef and ratio of cattle population
to technology of artificial insemination. While import of beef in Indonesia
affected by the real price of beef imports, import tariffs and the exchange rate.
Own price elasticity of demand of beef is elastic, that is equal to 1.26, while the
own price elasticity of domestic supply of beef is inelastic, that is equal to 0.81.
While the import price elasticity of imports of beef imports is elastic, that is equal
to 1.40. |
