الملخص:Water flow in unsaturated soils that is induced by infiltration and plant root water uptake processes is governed by Richard's equation. To study the governing equation more conveniently, it is transformed into a form of Helmholtz equation using Kirchhoff transformation with dimensionless variables. It may be difficult or even impossible to obtain the analytical solutions of boundary value problems involving this type of Helmholtz equation. In this study, we employ the dual reciprocity boundary element method (DRBEM) to solve these problems numerically. The proposed method is tested through an example involving infiltration from periodic flat channels with root water uptake.
