الملخص:Decision support system for selection of candidates for head of demography affairs chairman, civil registry and family planning department based on competency using saw method is the application which is used to help the decision of the selection for head of demography affairs chairman, civil registry and family planning department in Tarakan Government, East Borneo. This research uses Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) methods to select the best alternative from several alternatives based on the fixed criteria. This research also tries to find the score of competence model attribute by using Reciprocal Ranking Method, then in the last process will be ranked. The score to the applicants is modeled not only based on administrative score but also emphasize to the competence score base. Administrative score is appropriate with the rules of Minister of Domestic affairs No. 5/2005/January 20 2005, meanwhile the competence score based on the rules of Mayor of Tarakan No. 16/2007/September 3 2007 about the guidance of scoring and the selection steps of future structural position in Tarakan Government. The system which is built able to gain the best third rank of the competent applicants to be promoted as the head of demography affairs chairman, civil registry and family planning department, based on the last counting of the system.
