It was divided into five parts. Part 1 give a background of the study focusing on teaching hours in primary school. Part 2 presents the study objectives and conceptual framework highlighting factors that determine school effectiveness. Part 3 introduces the methods in the study. Part 4 summaries the findings of research study highlighting official school hours; result of national teacher survey; and results of the qualitative assessment. Last part describes the priority issues and recommendations such as school leadership; teacher training and supervision; the supply of instructional materials etc.The article aims to identify factors impinging on current observed shortfalls in primary school teaching hours.
