Such students would face social disappointments, academic dissatisfactions, and economic disadvantages. In this study, there are one main objective and two sub-objectives. The main objective is to ascertain the perspectives of the attrition of the master candidates. Moreover, the first of the two sub-objectives is to determine difficulties faced by students who left the program. The second is to gather feedback from the leavers to inform policy makers on how to ensure more student retention. In-depth interview and participant observation were used to collect the data. 8 former master's students were interviewed. Master's program director was also interviewed. In addition, other 4 former master's students were observed. Thematic analysis was employed to analyze the data. The 4 main themes in the leavers' stories were personal attitudes, student mobility, integration (social and academic), and external factors. The finding revealed that most of the reasons that cause the attrition were from the students' side rather than from the program's side. The leading conclusion was that the master candidates have to manage better time management in order to survive in graduate school.enRoyal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP)Higher educationRetentionAttritionA Study on Student Attrition at a Weekend Master Program in One University in Phnom PenhThesis
