Description
Summary:The issue of abandoned residential housing projects in Malaysia is a matter that should be given more importance in the country. This study aims to identify what are the causes, examine how it affects affected home buyers, and to suggest the solutions from Blue Ocean Strategy (BOS) Perspective. To achieve the goals, this study focused on reviewing relevant literatures and observing the site of abandoned housing projects. From the review of the literatures, the main objective is to find out what were the main factors contribute to the causes of the abandonment, how it affect the affected homebuyers and how the problem could be solved from BOS perspective. From the data analysis and the findings, the study revealed that the main contributing to factors of abandonment are Private Developers, Housing Contractors, Economic Crisis, The Government, Financial Institution, and Politics. The effects to the affected homebuyers are financial burden, mental torture, physical exhaustion, emotional instability, and social isolation. From these findings, the BOS four (4) action plans: Eliminate, Reduce, Raise and Create were applied and put into perspective. The results indicate that from BOS perspective, the existing problems in housing industry in Malaysia can be eradicated hence it will create healthier housing industry that is free from abandonment and protect the home buyers from being victimized by private developers.
