Batik industry is one of the industries that produce high amount of waxes in their wastewater. Natural fiber has become . eof apparently important as a source of absorbent. Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) core t is good absorbent to absorb the waxes due to its characteristic. The aim of this research is o seek weight t f the Batik industry to treat their wastewater more efficient. trrh seck the act i kenaf and the different form of kenaf can affect its absorbency. The method that is used to measure the wax absorbed is subtracting initial absorbent weight from the total weight of the wetted absorbent. Kenaf powder has been proven to have better performance in term of wax absorbed. The most suitable contact time is 15 minutes in which it has the highest wax absorption. Moreover, 1.2g of fibrous kenaf and 0.8g to .2g of kenaf powder have high wax absorption. This result is only applicable by using 100mi of wastewater which include about 0.2cm thick of wax, 250m1 of beaker, used of muslin cloth to pack the kenaf into round shape, the size for kenaf pack is 5.5cm and 140 rpm in water bath at 85°C. From the research, kenaf absorbent can be commercialized since it shows positive results in absorbing wax. Kenaf absorbent has the potential to boost Malaysia's economic growth throught intensive research and development. 2012 Undergraduate Final Project Report NonPeerReviewed Lim Siew Hui (2012) Remediation of textile industry wastewater effluent by using Kenaf as waxes absorbent.
