The PIIN is signal dependent source of noise which increases with signal power. The MPBD reduces the optical power at photodetection to mitigate the PIIN. To sustain the same average power, a multiple number of photodiodes are used. Our results show that the MPBD can support 67% more simultaneous users than the conventional differential balanced detection. 2013-01-11T05:49:59Z 2013-01-11T05:49:59Z 2012-06 Working Paper Vol. 1, 2012, p. 237-240 978-1457-71967-7 http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/xpl/articleDetails.jsp?arnumber=6306194 http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/22945 en Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Intelligent and Advanced Systems (ICIAS2012) Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)
