The ethanolic extractions from the parts (seeds and leaves) of Cerbera odollam were used in order to verify the antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity by using different concentration of dilution prepared. The antimicrobial test was done to evaluate percentage of inhibition zone against Fusarium sp. colony growth on media with different concentration of extracts dilution. The concentrations prepared were in 500 ppm, 1625 ppm, 2750 ppm, 3875 ppm, and 5000 ppm after all the concentration being selected by using One Factor solution under Response Surface Methodology on Design of Expert software. The highest concentration of dilution of seeds and leaves at 5000 ppm were show highest percentage of inhibition zone, 86.67% (seeds) and 66.7% (leaves). For brine shrimp bioassay, the LC50 have been determining by appliying the ethanolic extraction with different concentration on brine shrimp (Artemia salina larvae). The concentrations used also have been determined by using One Factor solution under Response Surface Methodology on Design of Expert software until provided 10 ppm, 167.5 ppm, 325 ppm, 482.5 ppm and 640 ppm. The seeds and leaves of Cerbera odollam have killed 50 % of brine shrimp population tested at 190.54 mg/ml and 117.49 mg/ml, respectively which are indicated as LC50 values of Class IV of toxicity category, that are environmentally safe but the concentration should be used with caution. 2013-08-27T08:56:28Z 2013-08-27T08:56:28Z 2012-06 Learning Object http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/27740 en Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) School of Bioprocess Engineering
