In today’s era of sophisticated and well-improved structure, demands in modern and new in technology is so important for society who wish to have a handful device in many kind of aspect. Therefore, engineers need to find alternative way in producing a new and modern enhance technology that is useful for the society. One of the most vital and often been used is the SMS or short message service technology. Normally, this service is used with a hand phone as a communication medium. But as we know, user have to purchase their own mobile lines which are available in today’s market such as Maxis, Celcom or Digi before they can used this SMS services. Beside that, every message that is been sent will be charged accordingly to its rate and the coverage for the signal is limited, where in a valley area those signal is so weak and it is hard to make any services regarding SMS. Thus due to that factors, my project is about wireless SMS communicator, where the main function of these devices is to send and receive text messages to and from another device. It is very much like communicating with a walkie-talkie, except with text and smoother communication scheme. I choose this title as my final year project because I was inspired and amused by the recent technological trend in wireless communication systems. Also, it could be a cool gadget for our cars so that the cars can communicate with each other on a road trip. The concept for this device is about receiver and transmitter, where I used microcontroller as a main device to transmit signal from transmitter to receiver. Each text message that is been typed is been done by using a keypad and every single word that is been typed can be monitories on a LCD board. Therefore, I used two keypads and two LCD screens for each receiver and transmitter. A part from that, I also used encoder and decoder for this device. Encoder is used to encode the input signal and also allocated the address for the transmitter. Thus, multiple signals can be transmit at the same frequency without interfering the original signal. Decoder is used to decode the signal back to its original signal and also for addressing purposed. Among the benefits for this device are free SMS services where each delivery won’t cost a thing and user don’t have to purchase any mobile lines to use the services. Due to the factor that I used a RF technology (radio frequency), thus it will have a range in terms of its distance where it can only operate at certain specified distance. A part from RF, WIFI technology can also be used where the distance for communicates is far more better than RF. For this project, I only set up a two way communication among users and the frequency that is been used is at 433.93 MHz & 315MHz. 2008-11-12T03:15:30Z 2008-11-12T03:15:30Z 2007-04 Learning Object http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/3107 en Universiti Malaysia Perlis School of Computer & Communication Engineering |
