my.utp.eprints.297712022-03-25T02:49:33Z Assessment of Competency Requirements for the Implementation of Building Information Modeling in the Nigerian Construction Industry Rishi, A.G. Hammad, D.B. Yaduma, P.S. The Construction industry globally is transforming significantly due to the emergence and development of Information and Communication Technology. One of the emerging transformation of information and communication technology in the construction industry is Building Information Modeling. Due to the perceived importance of the transformation, many countries are setting various strategies to implement it across their construction sectors. On this premise, the study seeks to determine the competency requirements for adopting Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the Nigerian Construction Industry. A survey research design was used for the study. A population of 14,324 from the architecture, engineering, and construction sectors were considered for the study. While a sample of 233 was randomly selected for the study. A reliability Coefficient of 0.90 Cronbach Alpha was obtained. Data collected was analyzed using non-parametric statistics. The Relative Importance Index (RII) of all the variables was determined. The results showed a consensus among the experts on emphasizing drawing, detailing, and specification in the BIM curriculum. © 2020 IEEE.
