The respondents in this study were students who were owners of businesses and who had joined the entrepreneurship program in Universitas Ciputra. 379 respondents were selected through the cluster random sampling based on their entrepreneurship class. The model of this study was tested by using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The results of this study showed that extraversion, conscientiousness, openness and authoritative parenting style have significant and positive relationships with entrepreneurial competencies, even though agreeableness and neuroticism have significant but negative relationships with entrepreneurial competencies. Entrepreneurial competencies have a significant and positive relationship with entrepreneurial success. Furthermore, entrepreneurial competencies have a role as the mediation variable in the relationship between the Big Five Personality traits and entrepreneurial success. In the relationship between authoritative parenting style and entrepreneurial success, entrepreneurial competencies do not have a role as the mediation variable. These findings show that in order to develop entrepreneurial competencies, a person needs to have high levels of extraversion, conscientiousness and openness as well as low levels of agreeableness and neuroticism. They also need parenting support by using authoritative parenting style to guide them during the development of their competencies. Entrepreneurial competencies are needed by entrepreneurs to help them to achieve their goals and to become successful entrepreneurs. The results of this study have some implications: education institutions must be aware of their students’ personality traits especially those who want to join the entrepreneurship journey and use the parenting style to approach the students. 2019 Thesis NonPeerReviewed text en https://etd.uum.edu.my/8343/1/Deposit%20Permission_s94797.pdf text en https://etd.uum.edu.my/8343/2/s94797_01.pdf text en https://etd.uum.edu.my/8343/3/s94797_references.docx Sidharta, Helena (2019) The mediating effects of entrepreneurial competencies on the relationship between entrepreneurial personality and authoritative parenting to entrepreneurial success. This study examined the relationship between (a) the Big Five Personality traits, namely extraversion, conscientiousness, openness, agreeableness and neuroticism with entrepreneurial competencies, (b) authoritative parenting style and
entrepreneurial competencies, (c) entrepreneurial competencies and entrepreneurial success, and also examined the role of entrepreneurial competencies in the relationship
of the Big Five Personality traits and authoritative parenting style towards entrepreneurial success. The respondents in this study were students who were owners of businesses and who had joined the entrepreneurship program in Universitas Ciputra.
