الملخص:This paper discusses a way of measuring the impact force induced by the collision of bodies through the deconvolution method. The designed system performs impact testing wherein a plate (mild steel) is hit by a cylinder-shaped impactor of arbitrary material. Strain gages are connected strategically, both on the plate and impactor, so as to accurately measure the force produced by the system during impact. The data gathered by the strain gauges are then fed to the Data Acquisition System (DAS) consisting of the PCA-10A (input terminal) and PCD-200A (Actual PC sensor interface card) which are connected to the personal computer. The information is then interpreted by the designed software program. The technique includes the application of numerical Laplace transform, Fourier, and some Fast Fourier Transform. This study demonstrates the applicability of the deconvolution method in structural impact testing. The Drop-Weight impact tester was used in performing the tests.
