الملخص:This study is a descriptive research. The researchers employed the interview guide to explain further the cause why smokers get into the habit of smoking. The interview reflected two different possible factors which may cause smoking among De La Salle University students. The two factors namely: a) locus of control and b) stress. The Anxiety Self Analysis Questionnaire was utilized to determine the stress levels of smokers and non-smokers. Their scores ranged from high, medium and low. Locus of control was measured by using the Rotter I-E Scale. The loci may either be internal or external. Results show that smokers have higher levels of stress than non-smokers. Smokers also showed inclination to external control rather than internal control as compared to non-smokers.
