الملخص:The growth-inducing effect of three brands of commercial feeds namely, Bmeg, RFM and Vitarich, on juvenile Oreochromis niloticus was comparatively assessed. Growth rate, using weight and length gain as indicators, was monitored weekly for thirteen weeks. The average weekly weight gain for Bmeg, RFM, and Vitarich were 0.91 g/week, 1.09 g/week and 0.93 g/week respectively. For the length gain, these were 0.30 cm/week, 0.33 cm/week, 0.29 cm/week, respectively for Bmeg, RFM and Vitarich. Comparatively, there were no significant differences of the results obtained. As compared with the control, fed with ordinary fish flakes, however, RFM incurred the highest percent change, followed orderly by Bmeg and Vitarich. The differences too, were not significantly different. It could be stated that the three commercial brands assessed have comparable growth inducing effect.
