Summary: | Singapore is a land scarce island state with an increasingly limited scope for expansion of the road network. Singapore’s population is projected to increase to 5.5 million in 2020, leading to an increase in travel demand. The increase in travel demand would have significant impact both socially and environmentally. The challenge of the transport system in Singapore is therefore to be sustainable in the long run. This paper investigates the sustainability of Singapore’s transport system by adopting three bottom lines; economic, social and environmental. |
