總結: | These lines are significant in echoing the nature of Murakami‟s writings, the core that they are centred upon – that of a fleeting existence. They are found in Haruki Murakami‟s Sputnik Sweetheart, and expressed by his lead character, Sumire. Sumire‟s belief in the power of dreams (and her decision to steer clear of reality) reveals a common trope throughout Murakami‟s novels: his characters, which are often in love, experience realities that are strange and unfamiliar. At the end of this thesis, I will address this quote again and assess its relevance, then, to my paper. |
