Description
Summary:Strategies to combat recessions have been documented extremely well, with extensive research put into it. The liner market, being unique in its own rights as a product and commodity, has been on the rise for the past two decades. This research paper takes a closer look at the liner industry, and specifically on growth strategies in times of economic downturns. Due to the lack of available studies and literature as this topic has not been extensively discussed; our project tends to lean heavier towards primary sources of information, namely company interviews and mass industry survey. The main finding of this research was that, strategies for liner industries are not applied as stated from textbooks, and that each company’s demographic profile plays a major part on differences in strategies used and taken. Although strategies taken are very diverse, they still do not deviate much from the bigger picture of financial, market and asset growth.
