While living a fast-paced life makes a lot of economic sense, there are considerable negative effects of such a lifestyle. Social interactions and social connectedness, which are important for our psychological wellbeing, is reduced. Stress levels and depression levels soar due to a perceived lack of time. We grow increasingly impatient and associate people who perform their duties slowly with stupidity and our children are paying an increasingly high price for keeping up with the rushed lives we lead. Inspired by the attitudes of Dunne & Raby’s Critical Design, the project aims to raise awareness, spark debate and set the stage for people to reflect about how our pursuit of a faster and more efficient world is affecting us.
