The basic setup of solar energy power generator composes of subsystems including Solar panel, DC-DC converter, Charge controller and Power storage device. The objective of this report is to develop a power storage controller for solar energy usage which include DC-DC converter and Charge controller. This report will discuss on why Buck converter and MCP73861 charge controller is chosen. Also the steps of designing and building the circuits for buck converter and charge controller were discussed. In addition, the type of solar panel and power storage device chosen is examined in this report. Conclusively, the developed power storage controller proves to be an effective charger for Lithium Ion battery.
