| Summary: | The Nee Soon Swamp Forest is the most important and last freshwater swamp forest as one of Singapore’s largest biodiversity of flora and fauna. Studies on the fish fauna is mild although Nee Soon Swamp Forest is home to most of the freshwater species in Singapore. For 9 weeks, extensive surveys were conducted at 60 sites around the forest which represented different areas of the Nee Soon Swamp Forest streams. Habitat characterisation were conducted and water parameter were measured at each site. Different aspect of the habitat environment and different factors of the water parameter were found to influence selected fish species such as %DO, stream leaf litter, width of stream and others. Data accumulated gave a better understanding of different species distribution and preference of habitat characteristics. |
