Second generation acclimated daphnids were individually reared at 0%0; 1,0%o; 1,5%0; 2,O%o and 2,5% salinity and 230, 26° and 29°C temperature conditions and examined daily till their death. At 1,O%o and 1,5%o salinities Daphnia carinata has a relatively high survival rate, a greater longevity,a smaller number of juvenile instars, a larger number of adult instars, a shorter duration of juvenile instars and a longer duration of adult instars than those reared at other salinities. Higher temperatures tend to decrease the survival rate, the longevity, the number of juvenile instars, the duration of the juvenile and the adult instars, however, they tend to increase the number of adult instars. Higher temperatures accelerate growth, but with increasing salinities growth tends to be reduced. The pattern of egg production is different at different temperatures. High rates of egg production are generally achieved at salinities of 0%0;1,0%o and 1,5%c. Based upon the complete randomized 5x3 factorial design, the largest number of eggs produced by D. carinata during, its life time occurs at a salinity of 1,0%o and 1,5%0 and at a temperature of 23°C. The hatchability of eggs under the three different temperature conditions is higher at salinities of 1,0%o and 1,5 %o than at other salinities. Under all salinity conditions, higher temperatures tend to increase the hatchability of the eggs of Daphnia carinata. text
