Summary:Flood and drought problem in Ciliwung catchment area has become annual problem, as known that the upstream of Ciliwung catchment area gives high contribution to the flood problem in the down stream area (Jakarta and surroundings). One of the alternative to overcome that problems is by building long storage in the upstream area. The principal of the long storage are can reduce flood by decreasing the peak discharge (Qp) and postponing time to peak discharge (tp) of catchment area in the rainy season. The purpose of this study is to identify the effectiveness of long storage construction to the flood control program in the down stream area of Ciliwung catchment area (Jakarta region). Analysis performed within this study are flood hydrograph analysis with several time series at Katulampa weir to determined peak discharge and time to peak discharge at Katulampa weir. From flood hydrograph analysis after long storage exist known that for alternative using 15 long storage as consultant recommendation can reduce peak discharge of Q100 at Katulampa weir 2.26 m3/second (0.42%), and for alternative using 102 long storage from consultant preliminary study can reduce peak discharge of Q100 at Katulampa weir 34.83 m3/second (6.52%). While time to peak that occur as a result of long storage existence can only postponed for 6 minutes at most (for alternative with 102 long storage). From result of analysis could be determined that from the analysis with long storage to reduce peak discharge, we can conclude that long storage still not reliable as the only solution to control run off in the upstream of Ciliwung catchment area so that there are need to build other alternatives solution such as polder, dam, etc to overcome flood problem at the downstream area. It caused by insignificant volume of channel reservoir which planned to be build in upstream area, so it could not reliable to control run off in upstream area of Ciliwung catchment area. <br />
