Summary:The present Aseismic Building design consept is still based on Base Shear Coefficient or Base Shear Force which is taken from a displacement, velocity or accelera tion spectrum of an Earthquake. In this thesis, a new concept is developed based on Input Energy of a structure modeled as a single degree of freedom which behave as elastic perfectly plastic. A Time Hystory Analysis of displecement, velocity, acceleration and External force of an Eartquake is first determined, and then the energy input is found from the following formula : [rumus]. The effect of yield strength, elasticity and damping on energy input, degree of plastification, number of yield excurtion and relation of Equivalent velocity VE and maximum velocity Sv is examined.
