Summary: | Knowledge about driving mechanism from a reservoir is needed to estimate primary recovery factor of the reservoir. The information is needed to select the appropriate future of reservoir development method. The types of driving mechanism in reservoir are: gas cap drive, solution gas drive, water drive, gravity drainage, and combination drive. In solution gas drive, the key factor is the gas dissolved in the oil. In gas cap drive, the key factor is the development of gas cap above oil, while in water drive the water expansion around the oil really determines. Moreover, in gravity drainage, a large reservoir dip with vertical and horizontal permeability is the key factor. This paper will display how to identify driving mechanism and determine oil in-place by using linear material balance method such as Havlena Odeh plot and Campbell plot. |
