USING CELLOLOSIC FIBRE IN PRODUCING LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE MASONRY UNIT

One of the problems must be solved in construction bussines is the need for bricks for walls in buildings. Production of bricks brings us environment deterioration by taking clay as the raw material.

Burning process in brick manufacturing release CO2 which ca...

There is a great availability of grass as a renewable source especially in Timor and Sumba island at East Nusa Tenggara.
This research purpose is to see the posibilites of using lignocellulosic fiber of grass in producing lightweight concrete masonry units (LCMU), the mechanic properties of the masonry unit (compressive strength, spliting tensile strength, density and absortion), and optimum composition of fiber in lightweight concrete masonry unit.
The result showed that the lignocellulosic fibres of grass can be used in producing LMCU with cement content 250 kg/m3 and water cement ratio 0.6. for the composition of fibre are 20 %, 25 % and 30 %, the compressive strength respectly is 10.05, 8.81 and 7.63 MPa. The split strength for each of the composition are 1.448, 2.634, and 2.751 and the density are 1693.75, 1645.31 and 1601.22 kg/m3. text
