However, cavitation is a common phenomenon that can happen in water turbines.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> In this research, there have been done a performance tests on a horizontal Francis turbine when there are cavitations, and when there aren't any. Besides that, an observation on the cavitations is done by a see-through pipe located near the turbine impeller. The result of observation is also videoed by a camera, so the phenomenon can be observed more detail. The result of the performance test and observation has been analyzed.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Hopefully this research can add understanding about cavitations for the writer and the readers. Besides that, the writer hopes that she could compare the characteristics when and when there aren't any cavitations. Last but not lease, the writer hoped that this research can be a beginning about researches about cavitations in Mechanical Engineering Study Program at Institute of Technology Bandung. text
