Summary: | Along with the advance in computational technology, the life now can not be separated from computer. That is why the study of interaction between human and computer becomes one of the most popular topic in computer engineering; in particular, the study is known as the Human-computer Interaction (HCI). Humancomputer interaction is a discipline concerned with the design, evaluation and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use and with the study of major phenomena surrounding them.

This final project intends to design a new way of musical interaction between human and computer, with the development of a new digital music instrument. This digital music instrument is played by human gesture. A low-cost interaction device; Wiimote, is used to be the gesture recognizer. The advantages of Wiimote in its embedded accelerometer and bluetooth connectivity are two of the reasons that Wiimote is been choosen as the gesture recognizer.

The gesture recognition based on Wiimote's accelerometer discussed in this final project is a part of musical program, known as DyA. The program developed by two others colleague is a tutorial music program. This program has the ability to store and playback the song made by Wiimote or play it back in a real musical instrument such as keyboards with an augmented 3D guidance. |
