Generally, the correlation is then utilized to predict permeability value from porosity data obtained from logging for uncored zone. The difficulty in building the representative and general correlation between permeability and porosity becomes the background of the development of Hydraulic Flow Unit (HFU) and Effective Hydraulic Pore Size method. The purpose of this study is to improve permeability and porosity correlation using Effective Hydraulic Pore Size method which is based on Kozeny Carman equation. A number of sandstone core samples obtained from an oilfield are employed in this study. Results of this study show that data points for determining zonation or flow unit are less spreading than those based on HFU method. Thus, permeability values predicted by the proposed method are in general closer to the actual values. <br /> text |
