Summary:So many method to process the plastics, but the injection molding is the best method one. As study case, in this report will be explained about injection molding process to make 'handle-grips' for motorcycle in PT.Madawikri Tunggal-Bandung. To achieve its specifications, the injection process of this product has met so many problems that come from complex interaction among the plastic materials, the product design, the mold design, and its injection process.<p>The main goal of this final project is to give analysis and inputs in order to make good product quality in shortest cycle-time. After through inspections and discussions, then it's made re-design process of previous mold with its loading analysis. As optimation step, it's made re-settings for some the injection machine's operation parameters and through simulative analysis by CAE. The results were reject-rate has decreased, and cycle-time became faster, then the production-rate increased proportionally.<p>The resumes can be made is that the high reject-rate of handle grips is mostly caused by product defects. The defects have been caused by improper selection of injection process parameters, and improper mold design, also by human-error factors. Application of the project results in the real injection process of handle-grips has made its lot-size increased significantly.
