In on-site observation, this aircraft part usually occur corrosion. Other hand, aviation regulation has determined that aft cargo door frame in Boeing 737 series aircraft is include in airworthiness. So it is important to know failure mechanism that happen and apply prevention and control to aircraft maintenance system.<p>In this research, coating that have standardize by Boeing was tested in each treatment with immersion test on salt solution. Treatments that applied are wetdry cyclic, thinning in coating layer, scribe test, applying wax layer, and applying top coat. Besides that, microscopic examinations of coating cross section, verification of corrosion deposit, adhesives test, on-site observation and processing historical data are doing as scientific evidences.<p>Through the observation and experiments, we know that aft cargo door frame corroded by water and catalyzed by chlorine ion, coating reliability really depends on surface preparation, specimens with 72 hours drying cyclic have heavy damage on their coating. Different with 72 hours, coating condition of 24 hours drying cyclic and total immersion was still good. Applying CIC can prevent water and oxygen penetrates to coating layer. Besides that, thinning in coating will accelerate electrochemistry process in interface between coating and aluminum as a substrate. text
