INHERENT has been planning to implement MPLS technology in their network to anticipate future needs in their education and research services. MPLS technology has some interesting feature which can be implemented, there are traffic engineering feature with RSVP-TE protocol and MPLS VPN feature which can provide better security and privacy for their service in the future. The problem is which MPLS VPN model that can be implemented in INHERENT depend on the present technology and topology. In this final assignment, I will try to choose the model by simulate three MPLS VPN model: MPLS VPN with Full-Mesh MP-iBGP, MPLS VPN with Route Reflectors (RR), and MPLS VPN with RSVP-TE to implement traffic engineering service. These three models will be simulated by using Dynamips software. I also simulate MPLS INHERENT by using OMNeT++ software to analyze end-to-end delay and link utilization, this simulation will be run in two scenarios: simulation with traffic engineering and simulation without traffic engineering. From the simulation result, there are some conclusions related to implementation MPLS VPN in INHERENT. First, it is necessary to make INHERENT become one AS number before implement MPLS VPN. And then, it is better to use MPLS VPN model with Route Reflectors because it can provide better administration and scalability issue in INHERENT. And from OMNeT++ simulation, there is conclusion that traffic engineering feature can provide optimal network resource sharing if this feature is implemented in INHERENT. text
