Description
Summary:The function of hair is to give protection against any negative environmental effects and to boost self-confidence. To solve problems of hair, especially baldness, people start using traditional hair care products like Indian walnut (Aleurites moluccana [L.] Willd.) and castor (Ricinus communis L.) seed oil. Indian walnut and castor seed oil were characterized and their contents were screened. Both oils and their combination of a half dose each and a quarter dose each in ointment preparation were tested for hair enrichment effect and irritation effect in male white rabbits. Ointment preparation of Indian walnut and castor seed oil and also its combination has a potential as hair enrichment although statistically there were no significant differences (p>0,05). Combination of Indian walnut and castor seed oil (a half and a quarter dose) showed equal hair length growth and better hair weight gained effects. Ointment preparation of both oils did not cause irritations to rabbits' skin and eyes.
