Summary:INHERENT is an abbreviation of INdonesia HighER Education NeTwork or network between college in Indonesia[1]. INHERENT Network Facility is expected to be exploited for distance learning, especially based on e-learning by using video-conference or video-streaming. With facilities which is referred above, INHERENT requires a technology in order to decrease network burden. Multicast technology is an efficient communication technology for one to many and many to many communication. IPv6 or often also conceived of IP Next Generation (IP-NG) is the rising technology and planned to substitute its predecessor, IPv4[2]. In IPv6 technology, multicast is elementary excellence that has became the specification of standard and owned by every node.<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> In this Final assigment, writer conducted simulation and implementation IPv6 multicast for INHERENT network. Simulation is conducted by using simulation software OMNeT++. At this simulation, the writer compared between applying IPv6 multicast at network topology INHERENT and network topology INHERENT that has already been implemented at this time. Implementation of IPv6 multicast is conducted at simulation software Dynamips/Dynagen. This implementation used routing multicast protocol PIM-SM (Protocol Independent Multicast Sparse Mode).<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> From this simulation, we will get the shape of utilization link, round trip time (RTT), Smoothed RTT, retransmission timeout (RTO) that are used as comparison. In other hand, we also got a scheme in implementation of IPv6 Multicast for network INHERENT by considered INHERENT network situation recently.
