Description
Summary:Commonly lateritic nickel deposits are formed in the East of Indonesia. There are many factor that influence this formation including weather, topography, source rock, structur, chemical reagens, vegetation and time of forming. All of this factor are related each other in the process of nickel deposits forming. Topography is one of the factor that is very important in the forming of nickel deposits, because it will affect to the water flow in the sub surface. This ground flow will bring a lot of elements that will be accumulated into the nickel deposits. If there are no ground water in this area means that there are no nickel deposits that will be formed.
Modeling from various data of exploration is created to give more contribution to exploration stage (exploration data of Gee and Pakal Island) and getting a hypothesis about the most ideal condition for lateritic deposit to be accumulated. This hypothesis is expected to be able to be a consideration to do a better exploration stage (in drilling activity).
In the area which has slight slope the horizon that will be formed is top soil. On the other hand, in the area which has steeper slope lateritic nickel deposit will not be found. This is caused by main activity that happened in this area is water erosion. The best area for lateritic nickel deposit to be formed is area which has topography slope between 35% and 52%.
