Summary: |
Ortoghonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) works by dividing serial data into parallel thus having lower speed for modulated separately. The other advantages, provides higher data rate, bandwidth efficiency and its robust to multi-path channel and delay. It makes OFDM be a popular choice for broadband communication system. Whereas OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) is wireless communicaton system that combine OFDM and multiple-access technique to provide multiuser service.

OFDMA is combine between OFDM and FDMA (Frequency Divison Multiple Access) that service multiuser with allocate it to sub-carrier. There are several variation OFDMA based on the allocation of sub-carrier to user, block FDMA and interleaved FDMA. Block FDMA allocate each user to a bunch of adjancent sub-carrier, interleaved FDMA allocate each user interleaced with other user in the sub-carrier. Bit error rate (BER) that generated by both method will be analyzed to compare the performance of both in wireless communication.

From the simulation result, got by that interleaved FDMA have the better performance from block FDMA specially when using Rayleigh fading channel with difference equal to 2.5 dB (2 user), 4 dB (4 user) at BER = 2 10-4 . Besides that, addition the user of each method improve the BER yielded which finally affect the system performance degradation.
