Description
Summary:The propagation of seismic body waves have been widely used for the characterization of the subsoil for different purposes, with a different techniques. The use of surface waves for the characterization of the shallow subsurface becomes of growing interest among geotechnical engineers and geophysicist.<p>Multichannel Analysis Of Surface Waves (MASW) Methods is one of the seismic survey method for evaluating the elastic condition (stiffness) of the soils for geotechnical engineering purposes. Active MASW utilizes surface waves, mainly horizontal travelling fundamental-mode Rayleigh waves, directly from impact source to receivers. Shear waves velocity profile as velocity function and depth function are produced after inversion process from the dispersion curve. It can be inferred that higher value of shear wave velocity indicates that the layer is more compacted.
