Summary: | In this paper study, we will observing sistem behavior in transien state and predicting stability limit. This is necessary to design a sistem that is able to withheld major disruption. This study is important be conducted at Batam-Bintan electrical power sistem during service area expansion of PT. PLN Batam with the development of Batam-Bintan interconnection sistem. PT. PLN Batam will managed an increasing complex network of electrical power sistem with the addition of power plant, transmission number, and load capacity. The difficulty level of electrical power sistem management will also increasing. Thus, all of this element is having characteristic that must be synchronize to maintain stability.<p> <br />

The study in this paper will be done by simulating 3 phase short-circuit disruption in the middle of the interconnection line. This study result is prediction of stability limit in term of critical clearng time in interconnection channel which is obtained from loss of synchronism time limit and turbine operational time limit. Those time limit will be used as reference for protection device seting in interconnection channel to prevent bigger negative impact as the result of the disruption. The obtained study result will also show safety level of the power flow from Batam Sistem to Bintan Sistem.<p> <br />

From this study, minimum critical clearing time obtained for Batam Bintan interconnection line in year 2011-2016 is 132 ms for Cable-Submarine Batam-Bintan A1 and A2, 137 ms for overheadline Line-Pulau Tj Sauh 1 and 2, and 138 ms for Cable-Submarine Batam Bintan B1 and B2. So diconnection time margin is 12, 17, and 18 ms respectively.<p> <br />

Critical clearing time at Batam Bintan interconnection line is bigger then 120 ms of PT. PLN's primary protection devices standard seting. But those values are shorter then PT. PLN's secondary protection device standard seting. So the secondary protection sistem must be able to clear the fault within or less then critical clearing time. |
