Summary:Pamanukan Subdistrict function Subang District regional development is communication among cities with presence the connected national road to Jakarta-Semarang-Surabaya, West Java rice barn, interregional trading centre, and settlement centre. The existence of regional traffic lane has influenced to the Pamanukan Subdistrict regional development then it has been motivated the framland conversion to non farm uses. Its problem is not known yet a farmer social economic condition changes as a result of framland conversion.<p>This research purposes are to explain a farmland conversion effects toward farmer social economic conditions from livehood structure, farmlang ownership, and migration aspects. Research target which are (1) the identification of the periodically land use pattern changes and the factor that influences, (2) the identification of the farmland conversion effects on social economic condition of farmers in regional scale (macro) and farming household (micro).<p>The results of this research regarding to the land use changes between 1997 and 2006 are the conversion field rice up to 34,48%, fish pond decreases for 2,75%, mixes plantations field 2,03%, and forest areas 0,2%. The factor that influences these land use changes is the regional development policy of Pamanukan Subdistrict. Effects from farmland conversion is changing of livehood structure where more increases the population who work in tertiary and secondary sectors, more leave a primary livehood sector where it is dominant sector previously, and more much of population who extra job as trader, labor, and TKW. The change of farmland ownership wide where more much a farmer who have not farmland owner than farmer who have land that are 1 : 5. Also the farmland shrinkage has caused 17,89% a farmers have change their livehood to tertiary and secondary sectors, out migration is increasing about 41,05% of farmer family. Migration of in increasing from year to year in according to farmland conversion, land conversion has influenced an migration of out number. <br /> <br />
