Summary:<p align="justify">A world peace mission is one of the real contributions of the Indonesian commitment to participate in establishing a world peace and security. It is an implementation of the national aims as mentioned in the preamble of the national institution, Undang-Undang Dasar 1945. The Indonesian Defence Forces/Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) is one of the national components (besides the Indonesian State Police (Polri), and Civil) that involved in supporting a peace mission.<p align="justify"><p>Today mission, as mentioned in the TNI's law 34/2004 this mission is part of the TNI's task in the Military Operation Other Than War. As we know that this is new paradigm in the context of operation other than war, however TNI as part of the Indonesian Contingent has involved in such mission since 1957. But, realty shows that this new role needs collaboration, coordination, and it always involved many actors, the mission is another part from their country, it is multicultural environment and multi national environment. So it needs well consideration and integrated approach in order to prepare TNI soldier to be as peacekeeper. Cultural awareness training is one of the important variables in order to prepare those that will be deployed in such mission.<p align="justify"><p>In the context of pre-deployment training in TNI circumstances, this matter is also part of the central issues that stressed by the host training. In this thesis will explore about this matter, to what extent this matter as one of the central issues during the pre-deployment training. Related to the responsible of training is depend on the Member States, and United Nations Department of Peace Keeping Operation (DPKO), so how the host training (TNI) can accommodate the requirement that established and how to combine the national values and code of ethics that relevant to the requirement as peacekeepers.<p align="justify"><p>This thesis identifies the role of cultural awareness training in the pre-deployment training, and how this impact if the training can response the predictable situation and real circumstances in an operation theatre. It will be explored this impact through the experience of those that had followed training and completed their mission, it used a case study from those that deployed in Congo to support the United nation mission in the country. It is under initial Kontingen Garuda/Konga XX-A, XX-B, and XX-C/Monuc.
