The storm surges simulation has been carried out by using tidal elevations at the open boundaries, winds, and air pressure as generating forces. Tidal elevation data were derived from the Tidal Model Driver (TMD) (Padman and Erofeeva, 2005), while wind and air pressure data were obtained from NCEP (National Centers for Environmental Prediction).<p> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The waves generated by the tides and cyclones had caused sea level rise and had inundated coastal areas of the southern part of Java. Pananjung Bay experienced the highest surge among the others stations, namely about 0.53 m, at 19:35 UTC on 6 March 2007. Meanwhile, maximum distance of inundation and highest water run-up existed at Nusa Kambangan, namely about 12540.8 m and 1.71 m, respectively. Serious flooding also existed at Karang Batu Cape with the distance of inundation and water run-up about 1848.4 m and 1.33 m, respectively. text |
