Description
Summary:Mobile WiMAX which is based on IEEE 802.16e standard may be implemented as an additional peripheral to a Personal Computer (PC) at client side or Mobile Station (MS). The physical layer of WiMAX and buffer endpoint of USB can be set to be able to connect to any of microcontroller primary bus. Whenever WiMAX and USB are connected at the same bus of a microprocessor, the data transfer can be perform easily by the microprocessor.

The objective of this final project is to build the communication line between the PC and the NIOS II microprocessor through USB line. The communication line is built by using the Philips ISP1362 USB controller chip. This USB controller chip can be connected to any of general microprocessor by using additional particular interface. The focus of the design is to develop the microcontroller firmware, select suitable device driver and develop simple Windows application to verify the connectivity.

Design is done at FPGA implementation and data transfer verification between PC and microprocessor through USB line. Verification covers enumeration verification and Bulk transfer verification. The results show that the entire system works well, the device is recognized as USB to WiMAX adapter and data received during Bulk transfer is as it should be.
