The embroidery industry in Tasikmalaya has a significant commercial potential; it is an industry that has been passed down by generations and supported by highly skilled local based manpower. This research aims is to carefully examine the pattern of relationship among actors of Tasikmalaya embroidery industry and identify constraints faced by the actors.<p align="justify"><p>This research employs a descriptive qualitative method through observation, interview, questioner, literature study and documentation is on held condition in the study region, in an informal and semi-formal setting and is spontaneous. Sampling is based on an accidental sampling method.<p align="justify"><p>In general, business actors in the Tasikmalaya embroidery industry consist of actors in production form by of raw materials suppliers, entrepreneurs and workers; and marketing actors form by entrepreneurs (collectors) and retailers. The government represents the non- business actor, who supports and develops the embroidery industry.<p align="justify"><p>The pattern of relationship among actors of Tasikmalaya embroidery industry is a social relationship that has a business orientation, that commercial relationship is based on moral principles that are "paternalistic" relationship between patron and client. This moral structure represents is an integration of the traditional, religious moral, kinship, and capitalistic values.<p align="justify"><p>The research finding indicates the beginning of new breeding independent subcontractors who are embroidery worker themselves; these workers that subcontract their works to the workers with the relevant specialized skills. This phenomenon indicates that the Tasikmalaya embroidery is moving towards in flexible production scheme. Nevertheless, the industry's constraints remained and should be solved in comprehensive manner. This can be done by improving the quality of relationship among the actors and developing and strengthening industrial networks that are mutually beneficial to all relevant parties. <br /> text |
