Description
Summary:As along with technology development in oil and gas industry, utilization of composite pipe of glass-reinforced polymer for transporting liquid has been developed. Because the utilization of composite pipe is relatively new, there are no deepened studies about buckling of composite pipe. This final project is emphasized on the method to analyze buckling, and the effects of parameter variations, such as pressure, temperature, wall-thickness and span length, against the stress suffered by the composite pipe of glass-reinforced polymer due to occurring buckling.

The results of calculation and analysis show that the wall thickness of the pipe will give the most significant impact to cause buckling on the pipe of glassreinforced polymer. If the wall thickness is reduced, the pipe will easier to undergo buckling. Beside that the reduced wall thickness will increase the stress suffered by the pipe.

Composite pipe of glass-reinforced polymer tends to occurring Euler buckling easier over than shell buckling. Nevertheless, if the wall-thickness is quite small, the pipe will tend to undergo material failure due to internal pressure rather than failure due to buckling.
