Description
Summary:The use of relative permeability is an essential factor in reservoir engineering knowing its capability to recognize the fluid flow characteristic in a reservoir, several papers have been discussing this concept so far. Lack of core data and special core analysis bring the engineer to use analog relative permeability curve from another reservoir in reservoir simulation purposes. This thesis is discussing how to develop relative permeability curve from well historic production data, where the subject wells are horizontal and producing from single reservoir. The iteration model is then developed as relation between fractional flow to reflect the historic production data, simplified material balance to reflect volume and saturation, and Corey equation to develop the relative permeability curve. The iteration proses is solved simultaneously and validated with production history matching. Once the history is matched, the variables are accepted. The reservoir characterization is then developed using oil and water exponent variables which reflect the rock hydraulic flow, such as: grain size, sorting, distribution and secondary porosity.
