In addition, it also doesn't deal with food necessity because it is un-edible. The problem is its high viscosity. According to research done by K. Pramanik, the high viscosity of physic nut oil will reduce thermal efficiency and increase brake specific fuel consumption significantly. The reduction of fuel viscosity can be obtained by heating the oil or blending it with diesel oil. The purpose of this research is to compare the effect of preheated and blends 50% pure physic nut oil with diesel fuel.<p>The effect was investigated by experiment in 17 hours engine running time for each test fuel based on SAE Paper 942010. The test fuels are heated and blended 50% pure physic nut oil with diesel oil and unheated diesel fuel as datum. Results show that the thermal efficiency is 13,8% lower (before 17 hours test) and 4,7% higher (after 17 hours test) and brake specific fuel consumption is 28,7% higher (before 17 hours test) and 2,1% higher (after 17 hours test) than diesel fuel. The 50% pure physic nut oil exhaust gas emissions also gives worse quality than diesel fuel. The emissions increase for CO{161,4% (before 17 hours test) dan 13,6% (after 17 hours test)}, UHC {58,5% (before 17 hours test) dan 44,7% (after 17 hours test)}, opasitas {151,8% (before 17 hours test) dan 297,1% (after 17 hours test)}.<p>Low LHV and bad fuel spray atomization of physic nut oil is the main reason to lower engine performance and worse emissions of diesel engine using 50% pure physic nut oil. In other hand, it also gave better fuel components lubrication compared to diesel fuel. |
